Fred Meyer - Tomatoes, raw chicken, canned food and A bag
At Bethel Station Fred Meyer (22303 Mountain Hwy, Spanaway, WA), I've continually (for a few years) had problems with my produce being bagged together with raw meat or, if I'm lucky, tomatoes or bananas with canned food. When I have said something to the store, multiple times, they treat me as if I'm being petty.
This is a food safety concern! I don't want raw chicken juice all over my lettuce, tomatoes, apples, anything else eaten raw in particular or really anything at all. Additionally, something they don't seem to have the common sense to realize, that canned food will bruise produce, such as tomatoes, bananas, apples, etc. when transporting in the same bag.
This has happened with several checkers, I am very picky when choosing who's line to go through and if I'm not familiar, I watch very closely how they are bagging. I don't particularly like spending $150+ to have my groceries tainted or destroyed.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.

What an idiotic response to the valid complaint. There is a correct way to bag groceries to avoid damage and cross contamination. Any checkout clerk should have basic bagging procedures down pat.
Are you mentioning to the cashier exactly how you want these items bagged? If not, I can't feel much sympathy for you.
They can't know what you want unless you tell them, and every customers wants things bagged differently. Don't get me wrong, I agree that your method is probably the best and safest one, but in my experience, while some customers are picky, most just don't care, and it's fastest to just bag everything together. Because the cashiers are timed, they are going to use the fastest method, unless you directly tell them to do otherwise, and make it as easy as possible for them.
It doesn't have anything to do with common sense, but efficiency, as they can be fired for being too slow. Just something to keep in mind for next time.
