Ive been shopping at the Thrashers Corner Fred Meyer for the last 15 years and pretty much always get good service but something happened this last Friday 3/18/16 that really made me furious. This store has been going through a lot of changes lately and the Express checkout signs were all taken down so anyone could use any checkout line.

Fine by me...i got used to it. Apparently they decided to put some back up and i unknowingly unloaded my cart of more than 15 items at one of these new Express checkouts. Mind you, i was shopping prior to rush hour and there was no one behind me for my whole transaction. As soon as the checker, Justen, started ringing my items he called to my attention that i was in an Express lane with more than 12 items.

I apologized and expected that would be it. Not even close. Justen decided to chastse and berate me the whole time he was ringing up my items. First he held up the first bag and said (rudely) "this is 15 items).

He then started counting each item over fifteen as he drug them over the scanner. At the end of the transaction he looked at my receipt as said "35 items...you have 35 items" i told him " i get it. Im in the wrong line" and proceeded to call into management upon leaving the store. ( i would have done it in person but had groceries that needed to get into fridge/freezer) i was routed to customer service where i was assured he would be talked to but was never given access to management.

Ive never been treated so horribly by any checker in any store!

The whole experience has me questioning how Fred Meyer as a whole is run and im thinking of changing where i shop. Its really a bummer considering the exceptional time and money ive spent here!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Location: Bothell, Washington

I'm not sure who Anonymous posted 4/18/17 is but I'm not one of "those people". This happened during a period of construction that lasted for many weeks.

During this time the express signs were taken down and all lanes were the same. My bad I didn't realize they decided to reinstate the express lanes. If I had seen the sign I would have gone somewhere else. Having admittedly made the mistake and asking if I should move to another line, Justen proceeded to belittle me to the point where I felt abused as a customer.

Not to mention one that routinely pays out a bunch of money every week to this particular store. I would have moved to another line but there was no one behind me and Justen started ringing up my stuff so what am I supposed to do? I just get to stand there while Justen throws out insults while ringing up all the items/money I'm spending to stand there and be insulted?

Smells like bs to me. I think Justen was showing his true colors and making false assumptions just as you have.

I promise you that's not our attitude at Fred Meyer and he doesn't belong working for the company I love.

I'm imagining there was something more going on, and I smell some serious attitude from this pissed customer. I bet she is just another one of, "those" people who think the rules are for other people.

It's so freaking obvious to see the red Express Lane sign above the check stand.

Justen is one of the coolest, and most kind cashiers at that store. I've only come into contact with a couple of completely unresponsive employees at any Fred Meyer.

One in Bellevue and one at the Shoreline store. And I shop at several FM stores about every other day.

Fred Meyer has great service, great prices, and I like the store layout.

You are full of it...no one was behind me. Anyways, that wasn't my point. My point was that I didn't stand in that line knowing it was for 12 or less items and was harassed by the person who is supposed to be giving me good customer service.

I don't buy it. I think you have a chip on your shoulder and was embarrassed to the point of being pissed that someone called you on it.

Live and learn.

Don't have the attitude that rules are for other people. Only then will you be able to begin to be a positive force among other humans.
